In 1999, the William Randolph Hearst Foundation partnered with the CSU Board of Trustees to create the CSU Trustees’ Award for Outstanding Achievement. The William Randolph Hearst Foundation established an endowed scholarship fund in 1984 to honor William Randolph Hearst, founder of the Hearst newspaper chain.
Preference for students who intend to pursue a career in community/public health.Preference for students involved with underserved communities while participating in the CSUSB Black Student Union, the African American American Health Institute of San Bernardino County, the CSUSB Student Sisterhood(SAAS)/Brotherhood (SAAB), the Inland Empire Community Collaborative (IECC), Black Equity Initiative of the Inland Empire, African American Health Coalition, the National Pan Hellenic Council or other organizations that demonstrate a commitment to the advancement of African American Culture and communities.This may include involvement with underserved communities through either community service or courses taken in support of their commitment to diversity.
